Overview
This research programme has built on the outcomes of earlier calls in relation to Climate Change, in particular “Road Owners Getting to Grips with Climate Change” (Call 2008), Energy “Sustainability and Energy Efficient Management of Roads” (CEDR Call 2011), and “Road Owners Adapting to Climate Change” (CEDR Call 2012).
The programme is more focused on implementation of tools and results than was the case with earlier CEDR climate change programmes. Projects resulting from this call have provided insight on how to use and implement former results, how to actually “get climate change adaptation done” and, as a result, can lead to the improvement of presently available tools and guidelines.
Specifically, this programme has covered the following issues:
A: Economic costs associated with integrating climate change into decision-making
B: Embedding climate change into practice and procurement
C: Developing a transnational approach to water management in the face of climate change
D: Driver behaviour: Diagnosing driver decision-making (in a changing climate).
The programme has funded three projects.

Decision support tools for embedding climate change thinking on road (DeTECToR)
DeTECToR addresses the economic costs associated with integrating Climate Change into decision-making and the issues surrounding the embedding Climate Change into practice and procurement of National road Administrations (NRAs).

Water management for road authorities in the face of Climate Change (WATCH)
The WATCH project addresses the requirement for a transnational approach to water management in the face of Climate Change. In addition, the project aims to provide guidance on how to carry out a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) as a prerequisite for implementation of the results. WATCh will liaise with the ongoing DeTECToR project to ensure that the CBA guidelines specifically aiming at water management are compatible with the DeTECToR framework.

Mobility Management and Driver Behaviour Research (MoDBeaR)
